As you can see from the photo above, we had a wonderfully productive day with Anne Hellyer, working on houses (called Set The Town Alight). We were all a long way through the process by the end of the day, and such was our enthusiasm that some were finished that weekend and rest followed soon after! Considering that we all had the same basic template, the houses looked so different. Anne’s website is here: http://www.paintingthetown.org.uk/

If you would like to see more photos of the process, the link is here:

Brockhampton Quilters 2019 Summary

2019 was an excellent year for the group.  The highlight was our exhibition in September. We were blessed with good weather and welcomed nearly 400 visitors over the 2 days. They enjoyed a wonderful display of quilts, wallhangings, book covers, bowls, bags, textile pictures, and lots of other textile items.  We were luck to have many Clayton demonstrating on both days as well as members working on Linus quilts, machine quilting and making fabric stars.  We also had a wide range of traders and a very successful Christmas decoration tombola. You can see some photos below.   We had a very successful group quilt raffle (see photo above) for James Hopkins Trust and we also gave them the tombola proceeds. https://www.flickr.com/photos/quiltingsusy/albums/72157711056980907

Many of our visitors come as much for our food as our quilts and the shopping.  Once again the catering was a huge success. Our next exhibition is September 2021.

We have had some great speakers this year: Kate Andre, Gail Lawther, Ruth Parkinson, Judith Barker, Jane Davies, Joy Salvage and Anja Townrow. Several of them will be doing workshops for us in 2020.  Our workshops included Moira Neal, Stuart Hillard, Angi Hughes and Anne Hellyer.  We are a group with wide ranging interests and our speakers and workshops reflect that.

We meet once a month on the 2nd Wednesday and on the last Wednesday for ‘sit and craft’.  Do get in touch if you would like to join us or to attend a meeting as a visitor.
