Happy 4th birthday BQ Website
20 03 2014It was 4 years yesterday that the first post appeared. Since then over 25000 views from around the world and 163 posts. It’s been great fun to create and maintain and so much more successful and useful than I imagined when I sat down to watch a Youtube video on how to create a wordpress blog!
The flowers were made at out latest Saturday workshop when 20 ladies enjoyed learning a new skill! Led by Liz, assisted by Susan and fed by Georgina it was an extremely successful day!

A Flourishing Quilt Group
3 03 2014Brockhampton Quilters is just about full at the moment. We have more members than we have had for many years and most of us are attending most meetings. We enjoy excellent external speakers who often return to lead workshops as well as evenings and workshops led by our own members. This combination helps our funds so we can keep our subscriptions low. It also creates a great atmosphere in the group as we get to know each other and our skills better. Certainly our table hopping meeting in February was very successful and enjoyed by all those present. We need to remember just what a great range of sewing skills that we have within the group!
We have show and tell at the start of every meeting now and it is really encouraging to see what others are working on. It inspires many of us to try new things. As I maintain the links on the website, it is particularly nice to see items made using those links to ideas and tutorials on Brockhampton Quilters.
Right now, we are working on 2 group quilts for charity, starting a 2014 Block of the Month and starting work on items for our sales table at our next exhibition in 2015. Meanwhile some of us are working on finishing projects already started. I am feeling very satisfied by this process having completed some things started many years ago. Below is the picture of a Christmas wallhanging/table centre piece started a good few years ago. It uses Oakshott lipari together with Martha Negley fat quarters in rich red and greens and it was finished last night. Now I just have to quilt the other two blocks!
