Monkey Buttons Pattern October 2016

13 01 2017

There probably isn’t a quilter in the UK who hasn’t admired a Monkey Buttons pattern in their quilting life!  You will certainly have seen them if you have attended one of the big quilt shows.  We welcomed Amanda Hall who creates all the patterns to our October meeting.  She brought a vast array of bags and quilts to show us and tempted us with her lovely taupe fabrics and all her patterns. Money changed hands!

We were so impressed that we have asked her back in 2017 to do a day workshop for us.

Quiltathon September 2016

13 01 2017

A small but hard working group of ladies spend some happy hours making Linus quilts for charity and raising money for The Chamwell Centre at the same time.

Here are a few of the quilts at various stages of construction.  Most are now finished!  Over the years we have made dozens of quilts for Linus and some of our members spend a lot of time and gain pleasure from doing so.

Kantha Quilting with Angela Daymond September 2016

13 01 2017

The group enjoyed an evening with Angela who told us all about the history of Kantha stitching, showed us lots of examples and then let us stitch a piece using a simple design for ourselves.  She brought lots of patterns and kits with her and needless to say, many of us were tempted to buy.  The hare is Angela’s trademark and it is an animal that is always popular amongst members of the group as we often see hares in our countryside around Brockhampton.img_3884img_3886
