Mary was an inspiring speaker and her talk about her life and the trip she made to India and the work that came from it was much enjoyed. The images below show city and guild work, fabric transfer paint, embroidery and some intricate tie dying.

Stuart Hillard Workshop

26 04 2016

Stuart was a hugely popular teacher and the ladies all enjoyed the workshop.  He is a skilled, enthusiastic teacher and we can’t wait to invite him back. You can see some of the quilts made below.  The pattern was called Gracie’s quilt.

March meeting with Edwina Mackinnon

3 04 2016

We had a brilliant evening with Edwina with a talk entitled Colour Stories.  She shared her ideas, her quilts and her stories with us for a couple of hours and we were spellbound. As we looked at quilts Edwina had made over the years we absorbed her love of colour and especially the regular use of circles in her work.  For her sushi quilts she had painted her own fabric with big black swirls and she often uses circles in her quilting designs. She used her Pomp and Circumstance quilt to explain how she designs and translates her ideas into quilts and wall hangings. I found it all fascinating. We were all inspired and took away snippets of ideas to use in our own work.

Our usual show and tell produced quite a few unfinished projects that had reached fruition!  You can see Jeanette’s felt embroidered book, Georgina’s black and white quilt, Bryony’s bags and my Amy Butler Frenchy bag.
