Sue’s second squares quilt

29 03 2013

After her great grey and red quilt, Sue has made a purple and orange one for a friend.  It’s a great design and very striking colours and she says it is very quick to make.

MetroLlink Quilt

MetroLlink Quilt

My next project to get finished is a quilt for Joshua. This is made using a pattern called Metro Link by Paisley Pear quilts which has turned out to be more complex than I expected not least because there are mistakes in the pattern! When you pay for a pattern you expect it to be correct but thanks to Sue G and Georgina, we sorted it out!

Sue's red and grey quilt

This is such a simple design but with a great combination of colour it is really striking. Several of us wish she had made it for us!

A finished Quilt reading to hang!

A finished Quilt reading to hang!

The binding is finished and now this quilt just needs a sleeve and a label. I reckon that I bought the fabric in Chester in New England a good few years ago. Richard chose it as black and orange are Princeton University colours and we’d spent a year there in 1988. I pieced it but couldn’t decide how to quilt it apart from in the ditch. Now I’ve added big stitch quilting using beige and orange perle cotton and it looks great. It’s heading for the wall in the barn where it matches the colour of the kitchen units! Finished in memory of my friend Mary whose life was too short to finish her many planned projects.
