Bag making

19 01 2013

I’ve been making a bag using Oakshott fabric and a Korean pattern with instructions courtesy of google translator.  Working out what it means has been quite a challenge but the final result after a lot of hand applique and some unusual techniques is below.  What do you think?  Would you buy a kit for it?  Any opinions appreciated!  I’m now writing English instructions.

January Workshop – Black magic with Gemma Berlyn

14 01 2013

A great day was had on Saturday discharging and printing black fabric using a range of thermofax stencils.  Some of us never got to the stitching part as we just wanted to print and print! You can see Georgina working on her last piece here with text and seedheads and grasses. Val produced a lovely piece with various shells.

January meeting with Edwina Mackinnon

14 01 2013

A great first meeting of the year with a high turnout, four new members of the group and a lovely range of quilts shown to us by Edwina. Heather did a sterling job in helping to display the quilts – she looks as pleased as if she had made this one herself!  Edwina had used this design several times to great effect.

New Year Resolutions

2 01 2013

I’ve looked back at my resolutions at the start of the year and I didn’t manage many of them.  That’s probably because there were too many!  I did finish the small Schnibbles quilt below and get it on the wall before Christmas so that was one success.  And the Bothy was finished, furnished and let so that was another.  But I still have too much fabric and have bought far more than I used, and I have  many more cookery books than Winchcombe library!

So this year I’m going to be more sensible and aim fo:

  •  a fitter, healthier year
  • a tidier garden
  • some completed fabric projects

I really want to finish Joshua’s quilt before he gets married and finish an Ohio star quilt for the Bothy and I’m quite capable of both!

What are you aiming for in 2013?
