Looking forward to spring!

2 03 2012

On the last day of the month a group of us met for sit and sew in Winchcombe.  We were all engrossed in our sewing and were rather quieter than usual!  Maureen was making the toadstool needlecase from the link I sent out a few weeks ago using some rather lovely red and white spotted felt, Anne and Margot were doing the block of the month, Jane was making paper pieced shapes with Oakshott lipari fabric and Jeanette and Lorraine were making silk hearts for favours for the wedding of Jeanette’s nephew( a labour of love indeed and some gritting of teeth!).

Several of us were hand quilting.   I’m working on this Schnibbles wallhanging below in Rouenneries fabric which is beginning to look rather nice .

We enjoyed tea and coffee and cake (raspberry and blueberry lime drizzle using a new recipe) and a generally good time was had by all.  Next month sit and sew is again in Winchombe so if you haven’t done so yet why not join us?  I promise there will be cake – it’s so nice to have a reason to try out something new with an appreciative audience.  And you only have to pay £1 so it’s a real bargain evening out!

There are lots of exciting events coming up in Winchcombe with the Wool event running from April 14th to May 5th and the arts festival from Monday May 28th to June 3rd.  We are part of the art trail which is on for the whole week with the garden a backdrop for a range of sculpures.

I will be using the garden room to display some of my wall hangings and other fabric items (pears included!) with some small items for sale.
