Gloucester Cathedral Crucible Exhibition

25 10 2010

If you haven’t seen it yet don’t miss the free exhibition of sculpture in the Cathedral.  It is an eclectic collection of art in a wonderful setting.  We saw it this afternoon as the sun was quite low and so giving some interesting effects on the stonework and the sculpture. It is so popular that it has been extended until November 7th.  And what you are probably asking has this to do with patchwork?  Well the colour and the light and the patterns were all very inspiring – as Kaffe Fassett would say ‘art is everything around us’

I agree with all you have said, well worth a visit. I did get rather sidetracked by the beauty of the setting which never fails to amaze and delight, but it provided the perfect backdrop for so many powerful sculptures. I found the Anthony Gormley exhibit particularly arresting.
